A Case Study on Best Western’s SEO Campaign

Creating a Plan 

The first step with any successful SEO campaign is to create an effective marketing strategy.  For this Best Western client, we focused on several different campaign strategies. Our focuses included: reputation management, social media promotion, inbound marketing and content management. We believe a multi-faceted approach was the best one to take to deliver the best results possible for this client. The total campaign length was set to 12 months.

 

After determining a course of action, our team decided to target more than 50 keywords as part of our effort to expand the company’s online reach with this SEO campaign. Some of the keywords that appeared on our list included:

  • Monroe hotel
  • Monroe Inn
  • Travel in Monroe

 

By taking the time to develop a comprehensive list of keywords and ones that covered not only the location, but the most popular Google searches for our client’s industry, we developed a list that would help this hotel appear on the first page of Google results.

 

Our Marketing Strategies 

In addition to a well-thought out plan, an essential component to any successful marketing or SEO campaign is to implement the right strategies. Here are some of the key marketing strategies we utilized in this campaign

 

Content Creation: No matter what type of marketing strategy you are implementing, content creation is always the first and most important step. Quality content is the foundation for any campaign. For this client we went through and cleaned up all of their content, made it sound professional and relevant and made sure we implemented the keywords from our list. This not only helped give the hotel a more professional image but helped support higher search engine rankings.

 

Tip: Before you start promoting your website with marketing and SEO, make sure you take the time to work on the content for your website first. You don’t want thousands of people visiting a site that doesn’t represent your business or your brand.

 

Niche Travel Articles: Since our client is in the travel and hospitality industry, we then started to focus on niche specific travel articles. We carefully created different articles that promoted the industry and different specials. Then we submitted them to high authority blogs that were relevant to this specific industry. For our Best Western client, one of the main blogs we targeted was holiday-vacation-rentals.com. Tip: Don’t be afraid to contact several blogs related to your industry, even if you aren’t sure if they accept guest blog posts. This is a great way to reach an audience of dedicated readers that may not normally visit your site.

 

Social Media Signals: No internet marketing campaign today would be complete without some social media marketing. Through social media votes or signals such as Facebook likes and Google + links, and social bookmarking, we helped promote this hotel and what it has to offer area visitors. This was a critical component of the Best Western campaign and an approach that we try to implement into most marketing campaigns for our clients. Many times some of the easiest ways to add a social media component to a campaign is to add social buttons to the bottom of different blog entries. Taking a look at the Best Western example, you can see social buttons near the bottom of the post.

Tip: Implementing social media to a promotional campaign is a great way for companies to stay in touch with their clients and customers. Make sure to link all social media pages together and always link them to the company website. For example, a Facebook page should also have the Twitter link, webpage link and link to the company’s YouTube channel in plain sight.
